Pai, Thailand

After checking out the nightlife in Pai we opted for some hot tea and sat along side the busy main street to watch the hustle and bustle of the night market unfold. This town is littered with tourists. If not for the trecking we would have moved on after only a day or two in this quaint but crowded hippy town :)
We found a trecking guide our first night in Pai, he spoke excellent English and seemed very knowledgeable. We packed up early and met the rest of the group. There were 2 Swiss couples, and 1 American couple along with us. The Swiss spoke german so Nic and I tried our best to recall some phrases from german 101....good thing they also spoke perfect English as well. It was a bit humerous at the meeting spot in the morning when the other American couple was 1/2 hour late. We were joking with the prompt germans that they were probably from L.A. turns out when they finally showed up....."Oh you are Americans....oh where are you from?" "L.A." We had a few laughs behind their backs with the swiss, but turns out they were really nice people. We all got along well.

Right after getting into pai we were starving so we found a nice little spot. This serene garden quickly turned into my worst nightmare when I found insect eggs inside our roasted cashews along with a side of dead bug in my curry. Needless to say we packed up quickly and moved to another resturant with less "extra" protein.

The pool is called Fluid....we found it in the guide book. You can pay a few bucks and lounge on bamboo mats or swim laps...we did both. It felt great after a long bus ride. Everything is eco-friendly in Pai...including this pool...at least that is what the sign said. I think we will come back here after our treck. It was amazing.

Nic laying low pool side... I told him he should have brought his speedo along. There were many Europeans sporting theirs and I think he felt left out. Next time.
