The temples we amazingly beautiful with intricate designs and lots of GOLD! We tried to be as respectful as possible and turned off our camera flash and always removed our shoes. Nic and I had never witnessed monks before and they seemed to be all over town in Chang Mai, their bright orange robes fit right in with all of the other brilliant colors of the city.
During our time in Chang Mai the biggest city of northern Thailand, we mainly stayed in the city center and explored the many markets, got fitted for our cashmere suits, and interacted with many locals that were interested in practicing their English. We only got lost a few times, but were quickly rescued by one of the many Tuk Tuks cruising by. We managed to stay within our budget in this thrifty city, but our suits were the one thing that set us back a little ;) After our first fitting the tailor set us up with his personal driver for the rest of the day. We got a free ride around the city and out to a distant marketplace. We have been experiencing many of the delicious foods for the North. Many curry dishes with coconut milk and some interesting pork and chicken dishes with pickled cabbage and sprouts. I feel very safe here not to many people hasseling you to buy their goods. Since Northern Thailand is known for their amazing textiles I had to pick up a few scarves. The one thing we both loved about Chang Mai were the people...so friendly and always trying to help us and give us advice about what to see. We have mastered the art of saying thank you "khawp khun kah" for me as a woman, and "khawp khun" for Nic as a man. By the end of our time in Chang Mai we were ready to move on to a more peaceful and green environment. We left for Pai on the morning of the 6th.

Chiang Mai, Thailand
In the morning, we hired a bicycle taxi to take us around the city to see some of the many Buddist Temples.
When we tried to talk to our driver he did not understand us but with a little help from some other Thai's we got our route secured along with the amount of 200 BKK which is around $6 for two hours! We felt a little sorry for the guy because he looked around 60 years old and was not a very big guy.

There was many beautiful sights to be seen in the wats through Chiang Mai.
