Siem Reap, Cambodia

Here we are taking part in a Cambodian cooking class. The class was for 4 hours and started off with a tour of the local market where the restaurants buy all of their fresh ingredients. Our instructor was a 23 year old Cambodian woman who was very nice. We then picked out two dishes that we wanted to learn to make. I chose the shrimp Amok (a traditional Cambodian dish) and mango salad, and Nic chose beef curry and spicy shrimp salad. In this picture we are preparing the ingredients for our salads.
Here we are with all of our dishes along with a German couple who was in our cooking group.

Here I am on Bar street. Siem Reap is actually very touristy which explains why they have everything in English and they use American dollars more than their own currency!! We got a bunch of Reil (Cambodian currency) at the airport without realizing it, and now we have to convert everything back into dollars!! Even the ATM's give you dollars. There are tons of cute restaurants and cafes all over town.
Here is some of the detail work on one of Angkor Wat's walls. The amount of design and detail was incredible. The temples were so large and complex there is no way to express it in a photograph.

A cooking class, how wonderful!!!
You are enjoying everything about the culture of the countries you are are visiting. The taste, smell, touch, the sounds and what you are seeing amazes all of us here back home. We can't wait for you to have us all over for a good 'ol SE Asia home cooked meal once you return. May your travels continue in a safe manner and all the sights be locked up in your memory bank for a lifetime of happiness. Love you both, Momma Lori and the Seeley boys back home.
