Hanoi, Vietnam

Looking down the ally from our hostel. Our place was tucked back from the busy streets, which was nice. I don't think we even needed our earplugs, a rarity on this trip.
St. Joseph's Cathedral was just a block down from our hostel. Hanoi has a huge French influence and this structure is just one of the many examples of the vietnamese and french culture colliding. The French Quarter was beautiful with the old architecture, but our favorite part of Hanoi was the art district.

Here is a misty shot of the Thap Rua known as the Tortoise Tower, located in the center of Hoam Kiem Lake. The few days we were in Hanoi we experienced overcast weather. It was almost cold....nothing compared to home, but not what we were expecting!!

The first day of exploring a city is all about orientation. In this picture, I'm trying to gain mine. In Hanoi, like many bigger cities in South East Asia, street signs change every block, making it difficult to navigate as a new comer.

As we were waiting for our luggage in the airport, we noticed a massive amount of people waiting outside security. They all had flowers, signs, and cameras in hand. Allison and I assumed their was some vietnamese celebrity in town. To our dissapointment, the crowd of people were actually waiting to greet their relatives visiting for their new year.
